Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up at the Victoria and Albert Museum
The V&A has become renowned for its blockbuster exhibitions on cultural icons such as David Bowie and Alexander McQueen. This summer, a showcase of recently-discovered personal artefacts belonging to the artist and activist Frida Kahlo, including cosmetics, a prosthetic leg and a selection of her infamous dresses, grant a more intimate insight to her life than ever before.

With a season of programming that spans the summer months, the BBC Proms has something for everyone from seasoned connoisseurs to complete newcomers. The centenary of 1918 runs through this year’s programme, including parliamentary recognition of the women’s right to vote. Located primarily at the Royal Albert Hall, one of the finest classical music festivals is only a short walk from us.
RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show
A short train ride away, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is set in 34 acres of stunning riverside grounds. The week-long event will see some of the country’s leading nurseries and designers showcase all variety of horticulture. With everything from calligraphy workshops to firework displays and some world-class food options, the day promises a feast for all the senses.
